Dragged along the floor like a sack of tatties...
OK, I finally get it now... Russian Woman by Mangina was incredible today! Our girl took no prisoners when she delivered a stonking performance of her feminist anthem during their second rehearsal. It stands out as being different enough, but also memorable, so I think a Top 10 or even Top 5 place in the final is not unrealistic.
I was also very impressed with Belgium today. Could this pull off a Common Linnets type shock and finish far higher than first imagined?
The biggest news story in Ahoy today concerned Kateryna, the lead singer of Ukraine's Go_A. She woke up feeling unwell this morning and was immediately tested for COVID and told to take bed rest. The boys in the band all tested negative, but, as yet, nothing more has been said about Kate. During their rehearsal this afternoon an excellent stand-in took her place to allow the band to do a full run through.
We learned today that delegations are being asked to select one of their performances from this second run through to replace the "live on tape" recording that they each made last month. In this way, if anyone becomes ill or unable to sing live next week then the performance slotted in will keep the continuity.
We saw the "live on tape" performance that will be used for Montaigne from Australia, although they are keeping the audio under wraps, presumably until the final rehearsals of the Semi next Monday.
Ireland's Lesley Roy did a MUCH better rehearsal today - well in terms of the complicated visuals. Her vocal still needs work...
Roxenne from Romania, on the other hand, sounded just as bad as she did in the first run throughs, so I'm sensing that she might be at the bottom of the pile when the votes are totalled on Tuesday night. At one point she is dragged over the stage like a sack of tatties - and that was the most entertaining and memorable part of the performance!
I'll leave you with a nice shot from the end of Israeli Eden's performance. I didn't enjoy the song, but the blonde chap with the tache was a bit luscious...
Tomorrow I get to see my favourite performed for the first time - Vive La France! Oh, and the UK chap is on too.
Tot zeins!
